Minipigs in toxicology

Minipigs are a popular species used as non-rodents in preclinical testing.  They are used as alternatives to dogs and non-human primates and are a versatile animal model.

I have worked with minipigs for many years and have acquired a fundamental understanding of them.  Indeed, because of my expertise, and because I have been a regular speaker at scientific meetings on the subject, I was named earlier this year as  a Minipigs Ambassador by Ellegaard Gottingen Minipigs in recognition of my contribution (see here).

My CV in terms of publications, posters and presentations is too long to list here, but in the field of minipigs, I have the experience and expertise to advise clients across a broad spectrum of topics including:

  • Dermal drug development, including wound healing
  • Juvenile studies
  • Reproductive studies
  • All aspects of toxicology, dose routes, endpoints, etc.
  • Study design, including practicalities
  • Study Plan and Report review

If you are using minipigs in research and need advice and help, or if you are considering using minipigs and need to understand what is possible, please contact me.
